A 22-year-old Englishman is presently speeding around the world on a Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled in an effort to break a world record and raise several thousand pounds for charity.

Henry Crew’s weapon of choice might not be our first pick for a 35,000-mile ride, but it’s certainly more inventive than the standard world traveller’s BMW R 1200 GS. Crew set out from London’s Bike Shed last week on a bike being loaned to him by Ducati UK. That’s a long-ass test ride. It’s hard to imagine Ducati will want it back after he’s so many miles on the clock.

Movember Foundation Supporter Henry Crew Attempts To Become The Youngest Person To Motorcycle Around The World Solo

Ducati says it felt compelled to support Crew after it heard of his desire to raise £35,000 for the Movember Foundation. The foundation famously promotes awareness of testicular and prostate cancer, but it also works to address male mental health and suicide prevention.

Having lost three friends to suicide and having struggled with his own mental health, the issue is deeply important to Crew, who has been planning his trip for eight months.

“I can’t think of a better charity partner for this trip than Movember,” he said. “Not only have they created a great community which has existing connections with motorcycles, but they also fight for causes which are close to my heart – specifically mental health.”

The goal is to speed the Scrambler Desert Sled through 35 countries, over six continents, and be back home by 10 May 2019. If he manages it, Crew will become the youngest person to circumnavigate the world by motorcycle.
