Operating on the theory that if something works once it will work again and again, Indian Motorcycle on Wednesday announced a limited-edition model that’s been custom designed to honor the company’s partnership with Jack Daniel’s: the Jack Daniel’s Limited Edition Scout Bobber.

This marks the third time that Indian has teamed with Klock Werks Kustom to develop a Jack Daniel’s-inspired model. In 2016, the partnership produced a Jack Daniel’s Chief Vintage; last year, it was the Chieftain’s turn. In both cases, the bike sold astonishingly well. Whereas the 2016 Chief Vintage models sold out in just eight hours, last year’s Chieftains were all claimed in under 10 minutes.
Clearly Indian is hoping for a hat trick, and it’s got a good chance of beating previous records with this gorgeous gold-plated Scout Bobber. That’s right: gold. The bike has 24-karat gold graphics on the tank and fenders, as well as on the tank and front fender. The gold accentuates a two-tone matte black paint (two shades of matte black??). Other custom details include a perforated leather seat and custom grips, pegs, and shift levers inspired by the Old No. 7 Brand.
“Our partnership with Jack Daniel’s celebrates American craftsmanship of the highest order,” said Indian Motorcycle President Steve Menneto. “This year’s limited-edition bike draws inspiration from the incredible story of Jack Daniel’s Fire Brigade, while honoring the passion and dedication of firefighters and emergency medical responders who serve our country.”
Only 177 of the bikes will be sold, Indian having somehow arrived at that number “as a nod to the Old No. 7 Brand” (surely in that case it would make sense to build only seven of them, or 77, or 777).
The Jack Daniel’s Limited Edition Indian Scout Bobber will be available for order from noon EST on Tuesday 13 March. Pricing starts at $15,999 in the United States – a $4,500 mark-up on the standard Scout Bobber. Prices have not yet been announced in Europe.
